What is a Control System?
Control Systems are often found in boardrooms, classrooms and funeral parlors.
They provide a interface screen from which users can control multiple devices. Projectors, screens and DVD players, cable boxes are examples, but virtually anything
in a room with electronic access can be controlled. This can include drapes, blinds and lights.
What can it do?
A Control System is programmed to make it simple to run things from one location.
Each device may have a different control mechanism. Professional equipment typically has RS-232 serial control. Consumer devices are likely to be IR (Infrared) controlled.
Screens and blinds may be controlled by simply start/stop relays (GPI). Control Systems are programmed to handle all of them at the touch of a button, so the user
doesn't have to worry about them.
Devices like DVD player/recorders and VCRs also require multiple commands: Play,
Pause, Record, Rewind, Fast Forward, etc.
A Control System runs these as well.
Control System Customization
The Videoscope Engineering Department
specializes in custom programming for Crestron and Extron control systems. A custom interface
panel can be created to suit each client, with colors
and layout to individual specifications. The most important part of the process is programming the specific controls needed
to make each device in the room perform seamlessly. A well designed
Control System makes it easy for the most tech-challenged presenter
to operate complicated equipment without a hitch.
