The Pinnacle Group created a living environment for the event which included a water of life centre stage: a twenty-seven foot “Water Screen” with images projected on the flowing curtain. Videoscope Staging Consultant, Steve Dunstall, pulled it all together and made the vision come to life. The custom built semi-circular stage held a tank where the water was recycled to up to the truss to create the waterfall. The 30 foot high white drapes flanking the water curtain flowed and glowed with color. The light show, designed by John Moriarty, used 6 foot LED ColorBlaze™ lights, programmed and computer controlled to provide an endless spectrum of color. Images were projected on the water curtain and the two flanking screens. Through the water curtain, into this vibrant setting, stepped host, presenters and entertainers. Four foot sections of the waterfall were shut down to allow a dry passage. The feature act was Mayumana, a phenomenal Israeli troupe with an ever-evolving performance of music, dance, theatre, percussion and wit. Other headline performers included internationally acclaimed jazz artist, Sophie Milman along her band, and Miri Ben-Ari, the Grammy award winning “Hip-Hop Violinist.” Videoscope provided a separate stage to the right of the main stage for the house orchestra. The a capella group, Cadence, greeted guests from a third stage in the main reception area, and the VIP Reception area had its own small stage for a solo performer. The host for the evening was to be CNN’s Larry King; but due to unexpected health concerns, he was unable to fly from Atlanta. So, just twenty-four hours before the event, Videoscope and Pinnacle scrambled to line up a satellite connection. Larry King co-hosted by satellite with live interaction on stage in Toronto. ‘to Life’ was a vibrant event and an exceptionally successful fundraiser for Mount Sinai Hospital and the Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Making the event producer’s creative vision come to life on stage is a Videoscope specialty. To consult a staging specialist call Videoscope at 416.449.3030 in Toronto and the GTA.
