The FBI Comes to Town
Staging by Videoscope

The Police called Gary and said, “Book ‘em,” so he did:

  • seven screens

  • the Folsom Screen Pro Plus Multi-screen Presentation Switcher

  • three cameras

  • lights

  • mics, speakers

  • and the crew to run them.

Location
The Sheraton Centre in downtown Toronto

The Event
An annual conference that brings together the FBI and Police Forces from all over the world for keynote speakers on current security issues, educational sessions and a trade show.

2006 was the first year the FBINAA conference was held outside the continental United States. It was hosted in Toronto by the FBINAA New York/Eastern Canada Chapter.  The Toronto Police Service wanted to make sure all went well. They needed A/V they could count on.

The Challenge
For the main stage in the Grand Ballroom, flexibility was the most important A/V consideration, with multiple sources going to seven screens.  Flexibility was also crucial for managing the space.

Flexibility comes easy with the Folsom 1604 switcher. With sixteen inputs, there is no problem handling two computers, two VTRs, a DVD player, and a camera.  The four outputs allowed different images to go to the main screen and the three pairs of side screens, as required.  For live cuts between the three cameras covering the room, Videoscope provided a camera switcher to feed the Folsom.

To complete the A/V package, Videoscope equipped the seminar rooms as well.

“Managing the space was actually the biggest challenge,” says Videoscope Staging Consultant, Gary Scott.   The air walls of the Grand Ballroom were re-set three times, to add area for luncheons, to create break-out rooms and make space for the Gala dinner.  Each time A/V cables had to be moved and equipment re-arranged without interrupting the flow of events.  “This is the kind of challenge where the professionalism of our crew really shines,” says Gary.

The Results
When the Toronto Police Video Services Department contacted Videoscope, they knew what they wanted to accomplish. Videoscope had the experience and the tools to do it and make it run smoothly.

Videoscope crew and equipment are ready to be booked any time.
