Project
Ford Motor
Company of Canada needed to move its Ford Star Broadcast
Facility for Distance Learning to the new head office in
Oakville, Ontario.
Challenge
To improve the
signal quality and functionality of the facility, to be cost
effective by using as much existing equipment as possible, and
to make the move without down-time for Ford.
Solution
Videoscope's engineering
installation team succeeded in disassembling the old facility
"one studio at a time," getting
a new studio up and running before tearing down the last one in
the old building.
Three
studios, a sound/translation booth, and a production control
room are wired for maximum flexibility. Studios can
operate on their own, or through the control room for complex
programs and editing. A 64x64 routing system handles signal
distribution and allocation, along with a 16 input production
switcher. Signals from other areas of the building can be
incorporated in special events that are broadcast on the Ford
Star Network.
New
frame syncs, new distribution amplifiers, a new intercom system
and a complete rebuild and expansion of the AMX control system
wrapped up this project.
The
move is complete and Ford executives note the improved signal
quality all the way to Detroit.
