Moot Court
at the
University of Western Ontario
Project
To preserve the aesthetic appeal
and courtroom atmosphere of this Faculty of Law classroom while
providing high tech A/V presentation and teaching support.
Challenge
Cameras and microphones must capture
the judge, witnesses and advocates, including the expressions
and gestures of the advocates, even with their backs turned to
the gallery.
All views must be recorded. Audio and video must be played back
through a projector to the main screen for review with the
students.
The instructor must have wireless control and use of a laptop
and document viewer as well as video.
Scope Videoscope
took on the challenge, installing cameras that
can feed screens facing the audience, to show the proceedings
from the judge's point of view. Video is recorded
directly to DVD with a time index control that gives the
flexibility required for teaching. Seven wireless microphones
capture audio from all participants and feed room speakers as
well as the DVDs.
With the A/V teaching supports
discreetly in place, law students can practice mock trials with
real courtroom atmosphere
